šŸ”„ PRIORITY BRIEFING
Are You Ready for an Active Shooter Response?

Picture from the recent Ga School Shooting

Another tragic school shooting, this time in Georgia. Itā€™s a clear reminder that preparation is everything in moments like these. If youā€™re the first officer on scene, you need to act with confidence and precision.

Here are a few key tips to keep in mind when responding to an active shooter situation:

  1. Establish Command and Control: Take charge quicklyā€”communicate clearly and ensure everyone knows their roles. Be the leader if youā€™re first on the scene.

  2. Neutralize the Threat: The priority is to stop the shooter. Time is criticalā€”donā€™t wait for backup if lives are at risk.

  3. Situational Awareness: Stay alert to changes in the environment. Active shooters are unpredictable, so keep scanning for threats.

  4. Communication: Keep dispatch and responding units updated. Quick, clear updates can make all the difference.

  5. Victim Care: Once the threat is neutralized, shift focus to helping the wounded. Coordinate with EMS and provide life-saving measures if needed.

Take a few minutes to review your active shooter response protocols and make sure you're ready for the unexpected. It could save lives.
